![]() Early February 2023) there was an environmental catastrophe in East Palestine, Ohio resulting from a 50-car train derailment. The train was carrying a large amount of highly toxic chemicals that spilled into the soil and were released into the air, causing an emergency evacuation of residents in the area. Although they’ve since been allowed to return to their homes, concerns about the short- and long-term health effects and contamination caused by the train derailment continue. So what does all this have to do with you? As the news evolves, we’ve learned that all of the chemicals spilled during the derailment were identified as dangerous, toxic, hazardous … and yet, these are all ingredients used in the manufacturing of everyday personal care and cleaning products. They include:
While we’re told that those ingredients are safe at the levels used in consumer products, exposure over time can lead to increased body burden and devastating health effects. Why are manufacturers okay with that? They’re okay with exposing their employees (who likely wear hazmat suits at work!) and customers to these hazardous materials. Why? When Pure Haven has shown that use of those materials is not necessary for creating effective products. Those materials are not even necessary for preservation of their products, as Pure Haven has proven with Pure Protect, our broad-spectrum proprietary preservation technology. We believe those manufacturers are only concerned with cutting corners and increasing profits. All at your expense. You — and our planet! — deserve a safer option. Pure Haven products never have and never will contain harmful ingredients. You can shop our complete collection of non toxic products for yourself, your family, and your home without worry. How to tell if your laundry detergent is legal?
A new law was passed in New York state that bans the sale of certain laundry detergents contaminated with 1,4-dioxane, a known carcinogen. As of January 1, 2023, the maximum allowable concentration is 2 parts per million (ppm) of 1,4-dioxane in household cleansing and personal care products. By the end of 2023, that limit will be lowered to 1ppm. Hooray for New York! However, it’s difficult for consumers to know how much 1,4-dioxane is in any product because it doesn’t show up on ingredients lists. It’s a compound created when chemicals are combined during the manufacturing process. Laundry detergents tend to have the highest 1,4-dioxane concentrations because of the way they’re manufactured. Conventional laundry detergents from Arm & Hammer, Tide, and Gain contain more than 3ppm 1,4-dioxane and, therefore, are banned from sale in New York. Products from Tide’s gentler lines and from plant-based manufacturers like Mrs. Meyers and Method were found to contain 1,4-dioxane as well, although at much lower, “acceptable” levels. So, if 1,4-dioxane isn’t found on product ingredients lists, how can you tell if your laundry detergent is legal under this new law? You could send your products out to a lab for 1,4-dioxane testing. Or you could read your product labels and watch out for these ingredients found in ethoxylated detergents, which are known to leave behind residual 1,4-dioxane:

I used to laugh about this and think this was for old people. Well, I guess I am old now, as I now have them. Talk about painful and itchy. So, I looked for some cream for relief and read the ingredients as I learned in your webinar. I was shocked. I put it down and went back home. I remembered the post you wrote about the 3 things you should have in your medicine cabinet and I started to try Neemo. I put some on a round cotton pad and tucked it in. WOW! It immediately helped to calm the pain down. It also stopped the itching. BUT, I didn’t have much left of Neemo. So I switched to the boo-boo stick. That worked good too, but the Neemo worked better because the boo boo stick didn’t spread out very well on the pad. I then ran out of that and switched to the Mom Balm. That was also a winner. It spread very easy and calmed it down as well. I feel it healing, but I will need to restock! I can’t compare to the store brand, as I never used it. But these three worked well and I know they will not hurt me. Keep up the great job! Love your posts. JEANNE SHARES… What a great testimonial! I LOVE to hear about Pure Haven products and how people use them! So me being me…I looked up a typical over the counter cream. Here is what I found: Active Ingredients:
Inactive Ingredients: Benzoic Acid, Butylated Hydroxyanisole, Corn Oil, Glycerin, Lanolin, Lanolin Alcohols, Methylparaben, Mineral Oil, Paraffin, Propylparaben, Purified Water, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Oil, Tocopherols Excipient, White Wax. I looked up some of the ingredients on the www.EWG.org. They rate ingredients as well (10 is the worst) Petrolatum 75% - rated 4/10 on EWG
Propylparaben - rated 9/10 on EWG
Mineral Oil 1-3/10 on EWG - 14% - Petrolatum
Paraffin (more Petrolatum)
Methylparaben 3-4/10 on EWG

The poison we’re talking about is mercury, which is known to cause serious health concerns. According to an article published on the U.S. Food & Drug Administration website, the FDA doesn’t allow the use of mercury in drugs or cosmetics (except in rare cases where there are no other safe and effective preservatives available, which is not what’s happening with products like the ones mentioned above). Mercury-containing products are likely manufactured abroad and sold illegally in the United States, promoted online, on social media, and through apps. The FDA article shares that when you use mercury-containing products, your own health is at risk, as well as your family members’ health. They could breathe in mercury vapors or become exposed by using washcloths or towels after you that have become contaminated. Pregnant women, nursing babies, and young children are especially vulnerable. Mercury can cause harm to developing brains and nervous systems. Mercury is not only found in personal care products, but in fish as well. If you are eating fish, please have your blood levels tested for mercury as soon as possible. It is SO toxic. ![]() Radiation Cancer Burns….. A Customer Shares…. I wanted to share with you all a story about my hubby's journey with Pure Haven Essentials. My husband, you see, has just completed radiation for Lymphoma. He was feeling awful and his radiated sites burned and bled. I contacted Jeanne Schumacher, who I know and trust and trust and asked what to do. She gave me a booboo stick and Neemo ointment. I have to tell you, when we asked the Dr. and Nurses what to do about the burns, they gave us names of some highly toxic products found on shelves of stores and pharmacies. These items shouldn't be put on your skin normally, never-mind raw skin that needs to heal. Anyway, now he's hesitant because nothing has worked and we tried some other all natural things. But I came home with the booboo stick and neemo and almost immediately after putting them on, he tells me how refreshing they feel. He used that boo boo stick so many times that evening and in the morning we couldn't leave the driveway because he couldn't find it (he did)! The boo boo stick and neemo gave him the relief he needed. It allowed him to sleep, and allowed the burns to heal without the pain and soreness he originally had and, most of all, it's giving him a sense that he will heal. When going through something like this, the smallest bit of help becomes something so miraculous and I cannot thank Jeanne Schumacher and Pure Haven enough. He went from miserable to a fighter (hence the meme here). If you're thinking of ordering these products, do not hesitate. ![]() A customer shared this with me... I LOVE hearing these stories about Pure Haven products. The Mom Balm... is the bomb! It was originally created for nursing moms... to help heal cracked and sore nipples....but... I use it for SO MANY THINGS. Any time you have a skin irritation.... that needs gentle TLC calming and soothing....it is my go-to! “I just have to tell you some great news. My angel’s perioral dermatitis was TERRIBLE. She has been on antibiotic cream for months. I saw that post from another angel mom about pure haven (mom balm). I will try absolutely anything, but in the back of my head I thought, it prob won’t work. It doesn’t look that bad in the pic, but she was scratching it raw. I have been using it twice a day for maybe 5 days, IT’S TOTALLY GONE. Like her face is spotless, so clear!!!!! Thank you!!!!!” -Jennifer ![]() Itchy Dry Skin Once we start the heat (we have forced air), my husband's skin tends to get dried out and is very itchy. So last night, during my husband's shower, he asked me to scrub his back. You can see how much he has been scratching it...with whatever he can find...and it was digging into his skin. I used the sugar scrub to take off the top layer of dead skin and gave it a thorough scrub down. Once he was out of the shower and dried off.... I used the boo-boo stick....and then sealed it in with the body butter. The photo I took was from this morning... literally 12 hours later. The boo-boo stick has so many ingredients to calm down skin irritations.... and help deal with pain and inflammation. The body butter... is SO rich. It is made with cupuacu butter, murumuru seed butter, and shea butter...which provides extraordinary hydration. It feels truly luxurious as it absorbs into your skin. It also has pre-and probiotics! Lactobacillus ferment lysate filtrate yogurt contains powerful probiotics that can improve the texture and health of the skin! Lactobacillus ferment lysate filtrate is intended to help deliver anti-aging benefits and anti-irritant properties. Populus tremuloides bark extract an extract derived from the bark of the aspen tree. It is an anti-oxidant and anti-microbial. ![]() Rough, Dry, Painful Hands So my husband came home...and showed me his hands... rough, raw and painful on his knuckle. He seems to catch that same spot on servers in the racks. Anyway... Pure Haven to the rescue... We used sugar scrub to get rid of dead skin.... then coated the area with Boo-Boo stick...and sealed it in with mom balm (which is the bomb) and he wore a silicone glove to bed. You can clearly see the results when he got up in the morning. (I took the photo in the same light in the bathroom). What a difference. Ready to go toxic free? One of the things that I truly enjoy about our new home is that we have quite a few flower beds and there's a lot of nature. I can sit out in the backyard and hear birds chirping almost all the time all day long. I planted another evergreen, and I was working to pull together and merge the mulch beds. So I was taking away strips of grass and using it to create a path to Carlos the Carpenter’s bees that are now residing on my property. In the process of moving a very heavy wheelbarrow filled with strips of grass, I stepped into a pothole. I went down like a sack of potatoes and twisted my ankle. That night, I put some boo-boo stick on my leg, iced it, and kept it elevated. But over the night, the pain intensified, and I wondered if I had fractured it. ![]() So off to the emergency care office I went in the morning. There, they did an x-ray, and gave me a boot and crutches, and sent me home. For the rest of the day, I kept pretty much to the couch. My foot was elevated, I kept applying boo-boo stick, and putting ice on and off for the rest of the day. The next day I saw that the swelling had gone down significantly. My pain also was dramatically reduced, and by the end of the day, I was hobbling along not needing the crutches. I believe I healed that much in 1 day due to:

I needed some pampering! Don't we all? I decided to spend some significant time in the bathroom this morning, working on just me! But as I started to set off on my pampering journey, I realized that the dog also needed a little bit of TLC. With her winter coat, that would rival Chewbacca, she desperately needed a bath and a good brushing. So I got out the Pure Haven pet shampoo and off we went. Her coat was so filthy. You could see the dirty water going down the drain and forming a precipitate ring around the tub. Not quite sure how she gets so dirty, as she pretty much stays indoors, but her thick winter coat seems to pick up everything! As I was washing her, I realized how thankful I am for the Pure Haven pet shampoo. It does a phenomenal job of cleaning her coat, and getting the dirt out. The best part is...that I know she is not being hurt by any toxins in the shampoo. I gave her a good brushing, blew dried her fur, (as its very cold here...brrr) and let her go to roll around on the carpets. So... I rinsed out the tub...and realized it also needed some TLC... but put that on hold until I was done with "me". ![]() So I took a long, luxurious relaxing shower. I started with my legs, and gave them a great scrub down with the lemon sugar scrub. The essential oils in the scrub just perfumed the bathroom with the hot, steamy water. I took off the top layer of dead skin, and then shaved my legs using the shower gel. Using the sugar scrub first, really makes my legs feel silky smooth after shaving. I used up the sugar scrub from my legs....and scrubbed my hands. My hands get so dried out from using hand sanitizer and washing them a lot. ![]() Then I gave my hair a thorough scrubbing with the super greens shampoo. I just can't say enough about this shampoo followed by the conditioner. I gave my face a once over with the exfoliator to get the top layer of dead skin off. After I dried toweled off my hair, I used some supergreen scalp treatment in my hair...as my hair is exceedingly dry...especially in the winter. I used hyaluronic acid for my face, which literally pulls moisture out of the air and into my face, which gets so dry in the winter. I sealed it in with the eye cream, that has both a pre-and probiotic in it. It is so decadent, that I like to use it on my entire face. Such a treat. ![]() Then I used a light coating of the hand and body lotion to seal in the moisture in my skin. There were a couple of patches on my skin that needed a little more TLC, so I used the body butter on those places. It is so rich, and creamy. Such a balm to distressed skin. ![]() Next, the bathroom needed some work. I used the scrubbing cleanser and mixed it with a little bit of water to make a paste. I use the paste and spread it all over the tub, walls and fixtures and let it sit for about 10 minutes. This allows the enzymes to break down the precipitate on the tub. Then I scrubbed and rinsed and let air dry for a few minutes. I used the surface cleaner to make it beautifully shine, and then wiped it dry with the towel. I used the Surface cleaner on the toilet, the cabinets and on the sink. For the mirror, I used the glass cleaner. What I really loved...was the fresh clean smell. Before I started using Pure Haven, and I used products from the grocery store...I would have to leave the bathroom and turn the fan on to push out the chemical smell. You knew that breathing it was toxic to you. Many of these chemicals are fat-soluble, and guess where you store them in your body? If you guessed the fat cells, you were right... and they are quite active, not just blobs hanging out.
I just love that I pampered myself, the dog, and my bathroom. Toxic free. Ready to go toxic free? Order direct - www.purehaven.com/jschumacher
